Ofsted Report for Stepping Stones at St. Bonaventure’s School E7 - March 2008

‘ Children are confident in the routines of the day. Babies and toddlers under three years develop a healthy dependence on the staff that are receptive to their needs. Children are developing their self-assurance and confidence through close and affectionate relationships with staff.’

‘Children are secure in the setting and leave their parents and carers with confidence. Positive relationships are formed between adults and children and behaviour is managed well. Children behave well and learn to understand the difference between right and wrong following gentle explanations from adults.’

‘staff are very caring towards the children and know them well. This ensures that most children feel secure and confident and develop a high level of self-worth.’

‘Staff have a sound understanding of health and safety issues and provide good supervision to make sure that the children remain safe.’

‘Children enjoy their time at the setting. They arrive happy, confident and older children seek their friends to play with. Caring relationships between staff and children help young babies and toddlers who are settling become familiar with their surroundings and the daily routine’

‘care is provided in accordance to parental wishes, such as following individual sleep and feeding patterns for young babies’

‘the organisation of the daily routine is effective in ensuring children spend time occupied in purposeful play. This promotes a child-friendly and welcoming environment.’
